The reason Isojin is brown is due to its active ingredient, povidone-iodine.

What is povidone-iodine (PVPI)?
Used worldwide for infection control
One of the main active ingredients in disinfectants
Povidone-iodine is made from "iodine," a type of mineral mainly found in kelp and wakame, and "polyvinylpyrrolidone," an ingredient that reduces toxicity and makes it easily soluble in water. It is an active ingredient in over-the-counter brown gargle solutions and hand sanitizers, known for its strong antibacterial effect against various types of bacteria and viruses.
