A. The active ingredients in deodorants can be classified into "antiperspirant ingredients," "antibacterial ingredients," and "deodorizing ingredients."
- Antiperspirant ingredients are metal compounds applied to the skin that accumulate in sweat pores (the openings on the body's surface where sweat exits), partially blocking them and thereby reducing the amount of sweat.
- Antibacterial ingredients suppress body odor-causing substances by reducing the activity of or killing microorganisms on the skin.
- Deodorizing ingredients work by neutralizing or adsorbing odor-causing substances such as short-chain fatty acids that actually cause odors, thereby eliminating or reducing the smell.
